The construction process for any new home consists of many stages. Listed here is a general outline of what you can expect during each stage of construction. The length of time for each stage depends greatly on the square footage and features of your home.
Stages of Construction
- Stake Property Corners
- Clear and grade lot
- Dig and pour footing
- Install foundation
- Backfill foundation
- Install plumbing
- Prep and pour elevated concrete foundation
- Construct shell of home (frame)
- Install rough-in mechanicals
- Install shingles
- Install exterior finishes (brick or vinyl)
- Install wall and ceiling insulation
- Install and finish wall board
- Grade for driveway and clean up
- Install driveway and sidewalks
- Install deck and front porch rails
- Install interior trim and cabinets
- Install countertops and floor coverings
- Install water and sewer lines
- Install finish mechanicals
- Install mirrors, shelving and accessories
- Install carpet and wood
- Final grade of property
- Install landscape package
These stages do not occur in chronological order, and you can expect to see the interior and exterior finishes completed at the same time.
